I like to keep each individual email separate in my inbox and other folders. It adds to clarity and simplicity, and I can read below the new email what it's responding to. Where there's been an option (for example in Gmail), I always turn threads off.
But suddenly Thunderbird is imposing threads on me, unwanted. This is completely messing up the way I organise my work.
I've looked in Settings but can't find any way to turn threads off.
Can anyone help, please?
How can I get rid of email threads?

Menu bar > View > Threads > check folder(s) as desired
I often take a long windy road to my destination. Upon arrival, I wonder how I missed the shortcut.

What version of TB are you using?

BruceAWittmeier was nearly right. View > Sort By and check "Unthreaded".

Re: How can I get rid of email threads?
.
About a week ago, I used the instructions given here to remediate the same issue. Worked fine.
When I opened TB this morning, my email list had regressed to "Threaded".
I did the following:
- View > Sort By
- "Unthreaded" was already checked !!
- Select "Threaded"
- Nothing happened. (So, at least that step worked properly by not working).
- View > Sort By "Unthreaded"
- That worked.
The principle is similar to thumping the top of the old valve TVs. You had to know exactly where to thump. A useful skill, because it gave a bit of leverage when arguing over which channel to watch.
Thanks.
With respect, it might be unwise to celebrate too soon.DVB wrote: Thanks -- that seems to have worked!
