So, I check my mail, read it, then close Thunderbird.
Next time I open it, I can't see mail anywhere - inbox, trash - nothing.
Where is it all stored? Is there any way to at least grab the raw mail files.
This is rather disturbing.
Please don't make me move back to Outlook Express!
Arghhhh
cLive ;-)

Read this page to find out where your profile is, depending on your OS.
Under the .slt folder is a folder called mail, which contains your accounts. In there, somewhere, should be a file called inbox. That's your data. The file inbox.msf is the index file.
Good luck!

Read mail Disapears
I was having a similar problem, it turned out to be a glitch in the view settings for the folder, so Thunderbird was hiding messages from me after they were read.
Changing the / View / Messages / settings for the folder from ALL to UNREAD and back to ALL fixed whatever was wrong. my read messages have re-appeared.. might want to check that in your client.
