Can't delete IMAP mailbox

Post by blaqb0x »

Hi,

I'm using Thunderbird 1.5.1 and using dovecot as the imap server. I try to delete a folder but, I get this message....

"The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: Target mailbox doesn't allow inferior mailboxes."

Anyone know of a way to delete mailboxes or folders?

Thanks,

See if http://kb.mozillazine.org/IMAP_folder_cannot_be_deleted helps.

I have no problem deleting remote folders on Cyrus, Courier and Uwash IMAP servers with Thunderbird 1.5. The only mention I can find of that error message is in sources for the Dovecot server. Perhaps another Dovecot user can help you. http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot-cvs ... 03273.html

You could also enable IMAP logging and post the error message plus about 10 preceeding lines. I might be able to figure out what its complaining about (though that might not help you solve your problem). http://kb.mozillazine.org/Session_logging_for_mail/news

The first suggestion works! Thanks!

Considering that I'm using mbox format for my mail, the error message now makes sense. When deleting the folder/mailbox, it tries to place it into the another mailbox. This, of course, is illegal. Hmmm. I wonder if I can replace the Trash mailbox w/ a Trash folder and still have it work the same? I'll give it a try and post my results.
