Problem setting up Thunderbird

Post by InMyifeTime17 »

hi everyone, i cant set up my pop&smtp server's. POP Server Address: pop-server.nyc.rr.com, SMTP Server Address: smtp-server.nyc.rr.com, I get that "please enter a valid hostname" message over and over again . I looked through all the documents on the site about thunderbird and went through some of the pages on the forums here and still havent found anything to help me out. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The only thing I can think of is the <-server> portion of you setup. I've set up quite a few mailboxes for friends and that's the first time I've seen anything other than pop.account & smtp.account. In other words, try keying the lines as:

pop.nyc.rr.com
smtp.nyc.rr.com

Hope this helps.

This is stupid.. i had this error, it wont allow you to setup the account unless BOTH incoming and outgoing are on the same hostname. :(.. silly
