Sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesnt

Post by DJayC »

Not sure whats going on, but (compiled from source) Thunderbird will sometimes start, and sometimes it wont. When it doesnt run, it simply exits without any type of warning or message in the console. I dont even see the outline of the window or anything. Other times it starts up fine. If I check for any ghost processes when it doesnt start, I don't see anything... it seems like it is simply quitting immediately.

This happens about 50% of the time.. the other 50% it starts up perfectly. I've turned off "check mail at startup" just to rule that out. Any ideas, or similar experiences?

Compiled it yourself eh? What optimisation flags did you set?

No ideas, but I've had similar experiences with my car lately.

Migh I be so bold that you both get a new one?

You try a new build, official perhaps ... and you - get a new car :-)

I compiled it using whatever flags gentoo set for me.. it wouldn't have been anything out of the ordinary. What's strange is there is no output at all.. even if I run it directly using run-mozilla.sh thunderbird-bin .. it just hangs for a second.. then drops back to the prompt.

Anything else?

Just came across this:

http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206199

I'll see if upgrading EnigMail helps (or removing it completely)
