Delete Inbox.msf file or not?

Post by sbrici »

Hello,

Please help me with this error:

"Alert: error truncating the inbox after filtering a message to folder "C:/ ..." You may need to shutdown ThunderBird and delete Inbox.msf"

I was "playing" importing accounts (2) and now I have this error, should I delete or not the msf file?

Thank you,
Sorin

You can do no harm by deleting the file Inbox.msf. Files with that extension are "message summary files". They do not contain the actual email message data and will be rebuilt by Thunderbird when required.

If you are using Windows, before you try to find your profile, you need to set Windows to "View hidden files and folders" and to not "Hide extensions for known file types". See this for easy instructions for how to do this: http://spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php?t=272

Thank you. I was not doing a thorough enough search.

I did find them and was surprised to see more than one.

I tried to delete them but the system would not allow it.

Did you have Thunderbird closed when you tried to delete the MSF files?
