how to view imap server SSL certificate?

Post by Guest »

I must be missing something really obvious, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to view the SSL certificate for an IMAP (or POP) server within Thunderbird.

Tools > Options > Privacy > Security > View Certificates doesn't show the IMAP server cert.

I found nothing in Tools > Account Settings either.

The server shows up as secure (locked icon), and I have verified that I am connected via SSL.

If the cert isn't quite right (like name mismatch), I do get a box prompting me to "view the certificate". That's exactly what I want to access, but I can't find a way to do so if the cert is working properly.

Any ideas?

(Note, this is not a personal S/MIME cert or anything like that; I can view those without any trouble.)

I think it is listed as "Web Site" certificate in the Certificate Manager yo mentioned.

Jeroen,

Thanks for your response. Yes, that's where I would have expected it too. I have one site listed there, and it happens to correspond to one of my IMAP servers. But I have another IMAP server and a POP server whose certs should also be available -- but they're not...

Any other ideas?

Seems like the perfect thing for a Thunderbird extension, but the cert-related extensions I've found all relate to S/MIME cert management.
