ThunderBird crushes - cant do anything

hello
i have some damn problem with my thunderbird
and i cant understand why its happening..
when i turn on the browser everything is going fine no problmes
but in the sec i enter some site
the browser stucks for about 5 min.. and takes all the ram of my comp.. and my comp allmost freeze
after about 5 min the browser crushes

i dont know why this problem has started.. i didnt tuch nothing or installed any new software to my comp

i have p4 2.2
512 ram

the error signature is

AppName: mozillafirebird.exe AppVer: 1.5.20031.717 ModName: xpcom.dll

ModVer: 1.5.20031.717 Offset: 0003d353

i have no idie what that means

some one please help
i hate using IE
