How do I Back up Thunderbird Mail/Settings?

I'm curious how I would go about backing up Thunderbird and all the settings I have. I'm thinking of a situation similiar to Outlooks ".pst" file that stores all the settings for your mail. Does Thunderbird have one of these files? If it doesn't how would I got about backing up all my mail and settings so that I wouldn't loose any information the next time installed Thunderbird and needed to import my current settings?
