just switched to thunderbird yesterday, former OE user, I like in OE that I could set up in the acc prefs it own smtp server with smtp-auth.
why has TB outdated global smtp server model?
btw, I miss the indication of the attechment size like in OE and the hide or add panels like subject, size, sender bla bla

PS: I am still looking for a drive independent way to use thunderbird from removable media
e.g. not C:\...
