currently I work over low-speed dialup connection and have got one serious trouble - when I try to open a big message (which resides on IMAP server) and, for some reasons, want to stop download (by closing window or pressing Stop button), in fact Thunderbird doesn't stop it. As I understand, IMAP itself doesn't have possibilities to stop transfer, so message will be delivered in any case.
What about opening separate TCP connection for download and when user wants to stop it, simply drop TCP session - and transfer will be aborted soon, so it will really 'STOP', rather than close window?
Thunderbird 0.4, 0.5.
