Import From Marlin

Post by ludiaribar@mail.bg »

hi
I want to ask if anyone knows how can I migrate from Marlin to Thunderbird. I tried to export and import
in different ways but it doesn't seem to work at all.

I took a look at thier web site but couldn't find anything about how they stored thier email (mbox, mh, maildir or a proprietary format). I suspect they support exporting address books as .CSV or .LDIF files (thats pretty common).

I suggest you send email to info@marlin-mail.com asking what mailbox format they use.

http://wp.netscape.com/eng/mozilla/2.0/ ... ength.html implies the BSD style unix mailbox is not equivalent to mbox, so the best bet seems to be to import the EML files.

1. Run the ruby script eml2mbox which you can get at http://www.broobles.com/eml2mbox/ to create a mbox format mail file. The web site has a pointer to a copy of ruby and detailed instructions.

2. Copy the mbox file to your mail directory in your thunderbird profile. All of your Marlin messages will be in one folder (the mbox file) so you will have to organize them into folders again.

See http://www.holgermetzger.de/pdl.html for a description of whats in/where is a mozilla profile. A thunderbird profile is a subset of it.
