Whenever I try to send out a mass email to my customers in the form of a BCC: I am told by Thunderbird that I have too many recipients. Can you tell me what the default maximum number of recipients are allowed?

Is Thunderbird giving you that message or is it coming from your SMTP server?
I'm not aware of any explicit limit in TB.

Also, for the record, which TB version are you running on which operating system?

There is no limit in Thunderbird. It is most definitely coming from your email provider. Most providers now limit how many you can send to at once. You need to find out from them what this limit is and stay under it.
