IMAP inbox gets rewritten every time mail is checked

Hello !
I have Thunderbird 0.5, and it modifies the remote IMAP inbox every single time it checks for new mail. This means that when I log on to my school's computers, I get a "beep" every minute because the mail daemon thought the Inbox had changed.
Do you know if there is an option to fix that, if it's a known bug (and whether it's fixed or not in the latest release), or if nobody ever reported it yet ?

yup, i ran into this problem too, but have no clue how to fix it. maybe u could use a POP3 server???
