Then you may not be able to delete that folder, because it exists on the server - and, in fact, may not have been created by Thunderbird at all. Have you contacted your mail service provider about this?

That I haven't. It only appeared after I created a draft in Thunderbird, though, and I've never actually used the client...
The act of creating a draft message creates the Draft folder.

I know that. I'm only saying that because I created the draft in Thunderbird, wouldn't it be a Thunderbird issue?
Not necessarily. That is why I suggested contacting the mail service provider to see if there is something at the server getting in your way.

I am on Thunderbird 52.3.0
I had the same problem, I accidentally created templates folder and Thunderbird would not let me delete. The bottom line is you have to delete it in both your local Thunderbird Profile AND separately delete it from your IMAP e-mail account if you are using IMAP account on Thunderbird. Here's how I fixed it: 1. Shut down Thunderbird 2. Navigated to my Thunderbird Profile folder (on a Mac command-shift-G and paste ~/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles) 3. Located Templates .msf and dragged it to trash on my Mac 4. Keeping Thunderbird shut down, go to your IMAP e-mail account via web browser or some other way outside of Thunderbird (I went to gmail via browser) 5. Locate "Templates" folder in your IMAP e-mail account from step #4 above 6. Delete that folder from your IMAP e-mail account (otherwise Thunderbird will see it when it reopens and being IMAP it will recreate that same Templates folder) 7. Log out of your IMAP account 8. Restart Thunderbird (and Templates folder should be gone) ![]() Thanks for that guidance, but you've replied to a thread that died nine years ago.
