Connection to server timed out

At the top of every forums index page, there is a button that says "NEW TOPIC*" in red letters. Click on it.

Click on the link "Thunderbird Support" link toward the top left of this page to get to the Index page for that forum.

I'm betting it's Norton (despite their protests to the contrary) but try increasing the timeout value in Thunderbird -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Modify_Thunderbird_settings

I have the same problem on trying to set up my new computer except I'm using AVAST. I can send but not receive emails.
Thunderbird 11.0.1
Windows 7
OpenPGP
Lightning - all this identical on old PC where it works fine.

To get support, please create a new topic and provide details of your Thunderbird installation and the problem you are having, including the exact text of any error message you are getting and what firewall and anti-virus you have installed.
