Is there a add-on that I can install into Thunderbird in order to send SMS from my email?
Would love to have an add-on where I can just type the cellphone number, rather than having to look up the cellphone carrier and type in the whole thing, like 9735551212@txt.att.net or 9735551212@vtext.com, etc etc..
Anyone?

See https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/904 and https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/6617
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_gateway mentions a lot of email to SMS gateways provided by mobile phone carriers.

Thanks! The 904 addon would be great, but it seems it is only working with older Thunderbird versions?

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Updating_extensions for how to workaround the version check, or disable it for all extensions. Most extensions that support 1.5 or later will work if you do that.
