Down with annoying page loading popups!

Post by grayrest »

Is there any way I can force moz not to pop up an alert when a page was not found or some other error prevents me from connecting to a page? This really, really annoys me as it interrupts whatever I'm doing (usually a page loading in a tab pops this error up and I'm interrupted in my current page reading) and causes mailnews to stop checking for mail. Can we please put this in the status bar or have some other way of notifying the user?

user_pref("browser.xul.error_pages.enabled", true);

The corresponding bug is http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28586. The error pages are not yet nice to look at and have some deficiencies with page history, but it's a first step.
