I had never looked at that before. Since I don't need it I don't have any reason to activate it though.

OK. I just wondered if there were any problems.

I just tested 0.9.10 from https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/download-statusbar/ in Firefox 15a1 and looks to be working for me.

Thanks for the info. I have to many projects going on to risk using Aurora but now I can hope it is a firefox bug and will be fixed even if the devs stopped developing the extension.
I reverted to Firefox 13 because on 14b6 the progress indicator (no idea if I'm using the proper term here, I hope you understand) stayed on 0, no matter how long I waited. The default firefox download manager worked normally.

Yes, but of course it also depends on how much Javascript you know.

Well, there is enough support out there and I'm patient.
I use Vimperator for Firefox, in which it is really easy to change the value of a about:config preference (like downbar.function.miniMode=false). After restarting the browser, the downbarHolder is displayed and the minibar icon is hidden.

It is probably better to simply call the downbar function used when pressing the "Hidekey" (see about:config) or when choosing the menu action accordingly, because it somehow reloads the UI. How do I find it?
(too lazy to look right now) Is the source of the Download Statusbar open?

Do you also use NoScript?
If so, do you see what this fellow is saying, Wrong ordering of menu items when icon in vimperator bar?
