feature request: mouse wheel drag function

Post by jmatthew3 »

There is a feature of IE that I really like, and I'll try to explain it.

When you press and hold the mouse wheel, then drag the mouse, it is as if you are dragging the scrollbar.

Essentially, when you hold the mouse wheel down, an arrowed icon pops up, and then you can drag the mouse pointer away from that icon. Depending on how far the mouse pointer is from that icon, the page scrolls at a different speed.

I find this feature very useful, and it's one of the reasons that I haven't switched to Moz/Phoenix in the past.

Thanks,

Here's some info about the plans to implement this in Mozilla:

How can you press the mousewheel?
When pressing on the mousewheel here is the same as pressing the third button.

It is a small issue but I too would like to see it implemented. It's just a bit annoying having the page jerk up or down when you try to scroll. The info on mozscroll.mozdev.org looks really promising.
