The seatabx-sm21.xpi from the sakurapup.browserloadofcoolness.com is good, works on SM 2.19 asis. Gives you a lovely X on each tab.

CatTheif has attempted to fix issues with Sea Tab X that started appearing a few SM versions ago which causes it to duplicate the tab when you try to drag it around the tab strip, but to no avail. In the interest of migrating myself over to SM I'm going to see if we can't get that fixed. Bindings are very difficult to work with, but when/if I find a solution I will happily upload a fixed version to AMO. Am also in the beginning stages of an extension to make SM more like Fx 3.5 since that was the last Firefox I was happy with.

Sad story is, after all the 'research' into and modifying the install.rdf's for several extensions, I probably will remove SM soon. I know it's labeled a 'suite', but I really don't need a chat thing nor a composer for HTML(or whatever). If they'd put in something to let me exclude them, maybe I'd keep it.
The other thing is, my wife just flat hates the email portion after using 2.0.0.24 for so long. Gotta consider that!

After disabling the "Component Bar" and hiding the Windows menu, I hardly remember all that mess is there. To my knowledge, with the exception of the theme styles and icons (still fewer than Firefox's current bloat) and some key bindings, nothing in the other Components are in memory when you only use the browser. For some reason SM starts up a tad slower than Firefox, and I've caught it crashing on shutdown a few times, but these are both issues I used to contend with in Firefox daily until it got more stable in the last year or so. Anyway, the major thing missing for me is the tab closer (and a few of the key bindings I'm used to using). I'll certainly let yall know if we get this nipped.

Patrick, Is the 'x' on the tab, the 'tab closer' you refer to?

That Sea Tab X extensions I posted from the Japanese site above works with the 2.19 version of SM I am using. And AFAIK, it is CatTheif's extension altered to include later 'max' versions of SM.

I'll look at the component bar and the Windows menu. See if that is something that will help 'my' hesitance' to keep it. I agree SM starts slower than Fx, but hell, I'm old, not going anywhere in a hurry.

SeaTabX from the Japanese site works but like the other versions, prevents you from dragging tabs around. Not a big deal for me as I never do that anyway but it may annoy some people. When you drag a tab it instead creates a new one.

Yes, "x" and "closer" are the same thing. As Ztruker says, all of these have the same problem... inherited from CatTheif's version. Something changed in SM around version 2.14 that screwed up the bindings. Probably going to start digging through diff logs soon.

Well hell's bell's, since I don't usually drag tabs around, I haven't tried that yet. But at this time, I am happy with it as a closer.

Looking forward to your fixed version of this as I do tend to drag tabs around, so have not reinstalled the modified plugin.

CatThief and I have both been doing tests trying to get it to work and have yet to find a solution. At this point I think we are looking at a bug in SeaMonkey.

About being able to move the tabs, towards the bottom of the post below, there is a modified version that I installed and I experience no problems moving the tabs with this version.

Thanks LAR Grizzly. I opened them both up and not only cannot I not tell what's happening that makes the "plus" version work, but now I've gotten myself into a corner where the tabs don't render at all. I think I've had enough of it for today.

I have at least tracked down the origin of the problem to the tab dragging that was changed in version 2.15.
