Tab close button(x)

Post by couldabeen »

I've decided to give SeaMonkey another go, but still have some issues.
Tab close button or 'x' or whatever>>>> config setting for 'browser.tabs.closeButtons' won't allow it to change to each tab.
is there an extension 'security' override? There are a few extensions I use, but won't install in SM.
Is there a way to get the new tab button available all the time? (this is probably addresses in the prefs, but I'm having a hell of a time finding it)

set middlemouse.contentLoadURL to false through about:config (address bar) and then you can close tabs through middle button (mouse roller)

Unless current SeaMonkey versions on Windows is different, the middlemouse.contentLoadURL should already be set at false by default as it is set to true on Linux by default.

From the link provided by James.
Possible values and their effects
True
Load the contents of the clipboard as a URL. (Default for Linux/Unix.)
False
Handle middle-clicks normally. (Default for all but Linux/Unix
<<< Verified in latest Seamonkey

Apparently as resolved as it's gonna be for a tab close button 'on the tabs' in SM.
Having second thoughts about SM. Still a few of extensions it won't accept after adding the SM code to the rdf file.
We'll see how it goes.
I do have to say, it plays better with Facebook Angry Birds a lot better than Fx. (But that's what I've got a chromium browser for).

if you are referring to Fx extensions then try this :-
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/doc ... eaMonkey_2
Also this is place to look for extensions modified to work with SeaMonkey. The list is quite huge. You can even request modifications here . Good luck

If middle click doesn't work then try close button extension (http://forum.mozilla-russia.org/viewtopic.php?id=55506)
i play angry birds on SeaMonkey here :- http://chrome.angrybirds.com/ .I think it is based on html5. Turn off hardware acceleration if your browser hangs.

I'll take a look at your links.
As far as the close button, wheel click doesn't work(my settings probably), but a right click does, but that is a PITA after all these years of an 'x' on the tabs.
I'm having a problem with Mail now(IMAP for an existing account in Thunderbird), but not something I can't reconcile with some work.
Oh well, I'll keep it or not.

One of the extensions I particularly want is Permit Cookies 2, but it puts it's icon on a toolbar in Fx, but there isn't a place to display it in SM that I can find.

EDIT>>Regarding your Angry Birds remark, been there, done that. The chrome versions are just repeats of what I have installed on my machine. I play the tournaments in Facebook, and Fx just doesn't cut it regardless of what I do. I'm happy with Iron for that!

I'm still using SeaTabX from CatTheif for X on each tab with SM 2.19.

Unfortunately I can't find anywhere to download it any more now that it's been "retired".

I found this link to a forum(not English{Chromium can translate}) that has an xpi file in the first post. It will probably need the SM code for later versions, or the code already in it updated.
EDIT>>> and it works. If it is 'private domain' let me know so I can delete this post!

An enhanced "close button and new tab button" extension was posted by me earlier ref:- http://forum.mozilla-russia.org/viewtopic.php?id=55506

Yeah, I got that, but that little blue cross was in the way! There is already a new tab button. The other one works as well without the extra clutter.
