Two features in Opera that would make SeaMonkey great

Post by mitrichr »

I have recently moved five machines from Opera to SeaMonkey for my default browser. But, there are two features in Opera that are missing in SeaMonkey which would really make it into the greatest of browsers.

When I save a new bookmark into an existing folder of bookmarks with File Bookmark, it comes in to the bottom of the list. In Opera, new bookmarks are automatically alphabetized into the proper positions in the folder. I know that I can use Sort Folder by Name, and I know that not everyone would want this feature. But to have it at least as a choice in about:config would go a long way.

In Opera, if I click on a link in an open web page, that link opens a new page on its own tab right next to the original page and to its right. This would be a huge deal over right and middle clicking to get the new page.

There is an abandoned extension SortPlaces - you might experiment with it. No guarantees, but it seems to work at first glance :).

Have you tried Preferences > Browser > Tabbed Browsing > Open related tabs after current tab? Single middle click should be enough to get you to the new tab.

Thanks. SortPlaces is no more. My Preferences for Tabbed Browsing are set as you described.

What do you mean? I gave you a link to the page where you can install SortPlaces, did you try it?

I gave you a solution a while back here, did you try it?
