Clear Search field on opening new tab
Why is my last web search kept in the search field when I open a new window/tab? I have to manually delete it before I can paste, which when the text selected kills my paste buffer.

What version of SeaMonkey?
You're speaking of the Search "bar"?
For me, the search strings persists a tab, which I suppose might be expected, but does not persist in a new window.

Yes, it doesn't stay on "New Window". But why does it on "New Tab"?

FF does likewise.
Maybe there is an extension to clear the field after a search?
