Auto forcing BCC to emails sent to a group of addresses

Post by peebs »

With the new EU data protection rules it is wise to BCC all emails send to a group of emails; for example 'Golf club committee'.
This hides the email details of members in general from any specific recipient.

Is there any way of automating this procedure? Whenever I sent a group email (<golf members>) it automatically sends to all addressees as a BCC. I am using SM 2.49.4
Many thanks

Create a Mailing List ( http://kb.mozillazine.org/Mailing_lists ) and sent to that mailing list as a BCC.

Thanks for your reply. I have made a mailing list which I use to contact a group of people. My problem is that the default is 'TO' I want to make it default to BCC for that particular mailing list. When I am sending a group message I sometime forget to change the default to BCC which can cause a problem.
Any ideas?

There is an extension you might be interested in, depending on the version of Thunderbird you are using -- https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic ... OnaoMgPllg

Thanks for your reply.
Not sure that would work with Sea Monkey even if it was still available. It would be a very useful extension in view of the recent Data Protection rules.
Best regards
