NetCaptor

Post by blo »

Hi,
I used to use NetCaptor before knowing Mozilla.
It has a few features that i find interesting.
(i had no time to list the Mozilla's advandtages over NC)
So if anybody could envisages to had it to Mozilla...
1- Th tabs can be displayed on several lines and the width of tabs can be configured.
2- When you open a link from a tab, the new tabs opens at the right of the "old" one, instead of going at the end of the tab list.
3- The best one:
You type mozilla in the location bar;
--> ctrl-CR will open www.mozilla.com
--> shift-CR will open www.mozilla.fr
--> ctrl-shift-CR will open www.mozilla.org
This is my config. all this can be configured.

Have you looked at Multizilla (http://multizilla.mozdev.org/). From what I remember, this will do the second part of what you want.

And the Tabbrowser Extensions for Mozilla pretty much cover the first part of what you want.

And the third part is almost covered by the URL autocompletion feature, if you use http://mozilla.org/ (without the www).

Alternatively, you can have link shortcuts using the keyword feature in your bookmarks - for example:

keyword g -> http://www.google.com/search?q=%s
keyword mozf -> http://www.mozillazine.org/forums/index.php
keyword mozfr -> http://www.mozilla.fr/
(with no %s)

Mozilla's quite clever

Actually it was the TabBrowser Extensions that I meant and not MultiZilla. I thought it seemed to have changed a lot since I last tried it.

MultiZilla is good but doesn't seem to do what you asked for.

I installed this addon over 1.2b (with Multizilla) and it screwed Mozilla completely
:evil:

So i suggest you should be carefull with this addon, though it looked interesting.

Though i think mozilla is very nice and powerfull, what i would like is different from this keyword trick:

ctrl-CR : http:// www. is typed in the location bar>.com
shift-CR : http:// www. is typed in the location bar>.fr
ctrl-shift-CR : http:// www. is typed in the location bar>.org

and this ctrl/shift/etc being configurable.
