Semonkey is being retarded

Post by talkee »

After I updated Comodo Internet Security and Spybot and Malwarebytes Free SM has started to whine that insecure connection on every https-page and I have uninstalled SM (task itself since it doesn't appear in settings-->apps or control panel) and deleted SM profiles on 3 places and folder where SM was installed but still browser stays retarded. Firefox (ESR) works just fine on same sites.

Date and time are correct.

Any hints what to do besides adding exceptions to every https-site I go?

Some of your antivirus products probably intercept https traffic using it own certificate. You either need to disable this or import the certificate into the trust chain. I would disable it. Only good for man in the middle attacks in case the said product has a flaw.

well something went wrong with CIS update and for some reason it affected Seamonkey only, not Firefox, Comodo Dragon (chrome-based) or Edge.

Most likely, Comodo installed its own security certificates so it could eavesdrop on secure connections, then told Edge and Firfox to trust it(in addition to Comodo's own browser, obviously).

And then it ignored Seamonkey, because everyone ignores Seamonkey. So Seamonkey dutifully informed you that your secure connection was hacked and someone was tampering with it. Because that's exactly what Comodo was doing.
