SeaMonkey Toolbar Text

Post by risk_reversal »

Hi guys,

Is it possible to alter the toolbar text [ie File, Edit, View, Go, etc] ?

The best I can describe it is that the toolbar text is dirty (same in about:config too). The characters seem to be too thick (too many pixels?).

I am using SM Portable 2.49.4 (but 2.49.1 had the same issue). SM Portable 2.46 had excellent toolbar text, thin, crisp and sharp.

Is there any easy fix to this. I have been searching and have looked in about:config but can't see anything there.

I did change the following setting in about:config

layout.css.devPixelsPerPx from the default -1 to +1.05 which has made the font size slightly bigger and slightly alleviated this issue.

Is there a setting in about:config that I have overlooked which can address this issue?

Many thanks for any info provided

Cheers

The screenshots were bad and you couldn't notice the difference in the fonts between the different browser versions.

However by a stoke of luck, I have found the solution which is to do with changes that took place in Firefox 52+ which changed from Cairo to Skia for canvas/content rendering.

Followed instructions here:

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=3029534

and it worked fine with the font clarity restored on SM 2.49.4

I even checked the values above in SM 2.46 about:config which were mostly the same, just

gfx.content.azure.backends;direct2d,cairo didn't have the skia value which should have come after cairo.

Left gfx.canvas.azure.backends;direct2d,skia,cairo unchanged in 2.49.4

Many thanks
