hi,
i have a 10yo seamonkey profil.
i wish to delete every data from the website i did not visit since 3years. At least, delete only cookies and keep url stats.
when i open the data manager, there is no way to sort the data by date but only by alphabetical order...
Moreover, when i open the datamanager i have a javascript debug message (my database might be too huge for the component who list the domain on the left side of the screen) and the cpu usage and cpu fan is growing up faster and faster before the error box is display (to debug or stop the javascript).
Thank you all for any suggestion and help.
ps : my version SeaMonkey release is 2.53.9.1
Platform: Windows x86 (but i'm running under win7 x64)
Language: English (US) (but i'm using a french OS windows).
how to delete cookies (and other data) for un-visited site?

Re: how to delete cookies (and other data) for un-visited si
i just check my folder profile, it used 500GB of data since decmeber 2009 (windows fresh install data).
there a lot of big files in there, and each subfolder can have a lot of data too.

Re: how to delete cookies (and other data) for un-visited si
Cookies, URLs and similar stuff are stored in "places.sqlite" file and it has c.a. 60 MB (not so much).Michael REMY wrote:i just check my folder profile, it used 500GB of data since decmeber 2009[...]
There must be something much bigger. Probably e-mails. Or some junk. Old cache maybe.
There is some nice "Scanner" soft to search and present size of files/folders under Windows:

Re: how to delete cookies (and other data) for un-visited si
Michael,
In addition to what tpr75 suggested there are a couple of other good free disk analysis programs that you might want to try: TreeSize Free at " https://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free " and WizTree at " https://www.diskanalyzer.com/ ". Both of these will scan whatever drive or directory you choose and give you size results. From there you can delete whatever you wish that might have become too large.
For cookies specifically I use the CookieKeeper 1.9.3.1 extension available at " https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/fi ... kiekeeper/ " or " https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/fi ... /versions/ ". For this extension I had to download it and then double-click it to install it, because all of the messages said that it would not work in my browser version, but it is definitely working in my SeaMonkey 2.53.9.1.
In CookieKeeper there are three columns with dates---Expire Date, Creation Date, and Last Accessed---and you can sort using any of these columns.
Like tpr75 said 500 GB sounds like way too much for just cookies. There must be other things. If you have never done a cleaning or emptying of cache you might want to try the "Clear Private Data" under Tools. But from what I see this will clear broad categories without giving you a preliminary analysis of what you are deleting. As an alternative you might want to try Ccleaner Free at " https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download ". This program will do an analysis first and then give you the option of what to clean. On my system I have it set to only clear the cache of various browsers, plus other things like the Recycle Bin, Temporary Files, Memory Dumps, Chkdsk File Fragments, etc. If you install the program be sure to choose the customize route and beware of any offers to install other unneeded programs.
Let us know what you find and how it works out.

As far as I'm aware cookies are stored in your profile in db format as cookies.sqlite
In this db table the creation- last visit- and expire date are stored in unix time stamp format.
When I need to look in those db tables I use sqlite manager 0.8.3.1 signed from https://addons.thunderbird.net/EN-uS/se ... er/?src=ss
Maybe you have to use the converter ( http://addonconverter.fotokraina.com/ ) before you can install the extension in SM
Before you make any changes I recommend to make a backup of your cookies.sqlite file

Re: how to delete cookies (and other data) for un-visited si
Look at this part of the interface: chrome://communicator/content/permissions/cookieViewer.xul.
That allows you to look at cookies and exceptions to your default cookie permission setting. Since it focuses on cookies and nothing else, it makes it much easier to see what cookies you have and you can remove them selectively.

Michael,
Did you try the CookieKeeper extension that I suggested in my previous post? As I indicated it has three columns with dates---Expire Date, Creation Date, and Last Accessed---for all of your cookies, and it allows you to sort them using any of these date columns. Once you have sorted your cookies by dates then you could delete whichever ones you choose.
And as hardys said you might want to make a backup of your cookies.sqlite file before making any changes, just for safety's sake.
[Edit 1 - After installing it, when you first open the CookieKeeper extension it will only show three columns and NOT the three date columns; to activate and choose these date columns you will need to go to the very right side of the screen on the same line as the column names/labels and click the little column image/figure; this will give you the choice of which columns to display.]

hi,
CookieKeeper 1.9.3.1 is "This add-on is not compatible with your version of SeaMonkey." which mine is 2.53.9.1

Re: how to delete cookies (and other data) for un-visited si
Michael,
The extension does work in 2.53.9.1 but you will have to manually install it. First, you will need to download the file from one of the two locations that I listed in my first post. Once downloaded the file will have the following name "cookiekeeper-1.9.3.1-sm+tb+fx-windows.xpi". Next, go to your menu bar in SeaMonkey and click File -- Open File. When the browse window opens go to and highlight the downloaded file and click Open. An installation window will appear, then click "Install Now". The extension will be installed and it will show up in your add-on or extensions list. On my browser in the Navigation bar the words "CookieKeeper" appear with a very small downward-pointing triangle immediately to the right. Click on that triangle and amongst the choices you will get "Show Cookies" and "Preferences". You might want to explore both, but the "Show Cookies" one is the one that you will actually use to do whatever work it is that you want to do.
As I mentioned in my second post "when you first open the CookieKeeper extension ("Show Cookies") it will only show three columns and NOT the three date columns; to activate and choose these date columns you will need to go to the very right side of the screen on the same line as the column names/labels and click the little column image/figure; this will give you the choice of which columns to display." From there you should be able to do what you wish to do.
