POP access denied

Post by Johnfull »

When the mailbox starts and when 'get msgs' command is given, this dialog box appears.

"Sending of password for user xxxx@gmail.com did not succeed.
Mail server pop.gmail.com responded:
Application-specific password required:
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833"

Also, I suddenly can't open gmail in the browser except in a dumbed down format.
It says that the browser is obsolete.

You have been redirected to the basic HTML version because this browser is not supported. To use standard view please upgrade to a supported browser.

I had to use Microsoft Edge to get into my account and turn off the 2-step verification.
I don't know why it was activated, but turning it off solved the problem.
My POP mail is back to functional.
Trying to use Seamonkey to change security settings gets a screen saying to upgrade to a new program.

Thanks for this report... I saw this issue today when I restarted SeaMonkey and it went for the GMail account - but since I had just read your warning a couple of days ago, I knew what to do. :)
