Cbski,

What exactly do you mean by "Unable to print to Adobe PDF file"? Have you opened a pdf file in SeaMonkey and are unable to print it from there? Or are you trying to directly print something like a web page or document to a pdf file?

Do you have "Microsoft Print to PDF" in your list of printers? If so, then all you have to do is to press "ctrl + p", choose "Microsoft Print to PDF" as your printer, and then click "OK". This will allow you to print directly to a pdf file and send it to some location on your computer. If you do not have "Microsoft Print to PDF" installed you can follow the instructions on the following web page " https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing ... f-windows/ ".

If on the other hand you are trying to open and print a pdf file in SeaMonkey then you will need to install an extension, because if I remember correctly Adobe plugins no longer work in SeaMonkey. For one such extension, go to " https://github.com/IsaacSchemm/pdf.js-s ... y/releases ", scroll down to and click "pdf.js.xpi" under "PDF Viewer 2.3.235" (this is the latest version). Once you click and install "pdf.js.xpi" you will be able to open pdf files in SeaMonkey directly and from there you can save the pdf file to your computer (which is the same as 'printing to a pdf file'). If instead you wish to print to pdf from there you would still need to have either "Microsoft Print to PDF" or an equivalent pdf printer installed on your computer.

In Windows 10 some other browsers have printing options that may include both "Save to PDF" (this does not appear in SeaMonkey) and "Microsoft Print to PDF". So check your installed printers.

Thank you for the response.
I was trying to directly print a web page using 'Adobe PDF' printer.
I was successful using the 'Microsoft Print to PDF' printer and will use that instead - Thanks

Cbski,

Okay, the problem is solved. Given the details of your response the reason for the problem was that the Adobe plug-ins no longer work in the newer browsers. (See the following web pages at Adobe: " https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/d ... owser.html ", " https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/chan ... -web-.html ", " https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/chan ... -web-.html ", and " https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/e ... refox.html ").

As you mentioned "other browsers" have gotten around this problem by developing pdf capability directly in the browser itself. SeaMonkey has not gone that route yet, and the current workarounds are what I detailed in my previous post.

Are you sure it is a plug-in? Adobe PDF printer is a "virtual printer" that makes PDF files. It can be used in all programs with printing function. For SeaMonkey it should be treated like any other (physical) printer.

Question is what this "printer" is trying to do while printing a webpage to PDF file? If "Adobe PDF" is trying to download some content instead of just "reading" existing page the it can look like freeze/hanged/stuck. I wonder if using offline mode (e.g. Menu -> File -> Work Offline) could help here.

Maybe "Adobe PDF" printer can be tuned to fit with SeaMonkey but I don't have this program (I'm using older PDFCreator and it works correct):

TPR75,

Am I sure? Perhaps not! Even though Cbski used the phrase "'Adobe PDF' printer," I went with the thought that he or she was referring to Adobe Reader and trying to use it to print to pdf. Given that the true "Adobe PDF Printer" is part of the full package of Adobe Acrobat and given that that is an expensive program, my thought was that he or she was not working with the full Acrobat package. I could have asked for more exact details but I went with the issues of the NPAPI plug-ins for Adobe Reader no longer working.

Like you I have a very old version of PDFCreator and several other pdf-writers installed and like you implied I can use any of them as 'virtual printers' to print web pages or any other documents to pdf. But I tried to give Cbski the simplest and fastest remedy that I could think of!

IMHO it's not about printing PDF (opened in Browser's window) to paper but rather printing webpage to PDF file.

I have have Adobe Reader DC & Adobe Acrobat 2017
Everything was working before upgrade to SM 2.53.11 - Printing a web-pae using the printer - "Adobe PDF".
As stated earlier - I can use this method in other browers.
I have now changed to "Microsoft Print to PDF" and works fine.
Now I cannot open a PDF file in an SM email.
I did install "pdf.js.xpi" under "PDF Viewer 2.3.235" but still unable to open SM email PDF attachment.
"PDF Viewer" opens but does nothing - does not open PDF file.
Yes - I know I can download & then open the file - which is not what I prefer to do plus it's a pain.

I don't have Adobe Acrobat so it's hard to check what is the problem. Theoretically it should be just "a printer" for SeaMonkey.

There is some hint. Maybe it will work in your case:

It works but under some conditions:
viewtopic.php?p=14906037#p14906037
1) change tabs behavior,
2) reload "blank PDF" in a tab.

The following allowed me open the PDF attachment in a new window.
It's not how it worked before but this is a solution
In the Seamonkey settings under Browser -> Link behavior -> Link from other applications, select the item "New window".
