To all those having a cut/paste problem, as has been suggested, create test profile and see if the problem continues in that. Let us know.
To create a test profile, click on Tools, then Switch Profile. You'll get a popup. Click on the Manage Profiles button, then Create Profile button, and create a test profile. Have SM 2 start in that profile and see if the problem continues in that. And report back what happens.

I'm another one who dropped back to Seamonkey 1.1.18 because of the copy/paste/drag/drop issue. (As far as I can tell, it's that seamonkey 2.0 isn't putting anything into the clipboard when it cuts or "copies" stuff.)
I'm running XP Pro SP3.

As I noted on another thread: I tried creating another profile, and the new profile had the same copy/paste problem.

Another bit of info: Copy/paste *does* work properly in Firefox 3.5.4 on my machine. Since Seamonkey uses the same internals, this should help narrow down where the problem is.

I did as you suggested - I reinstalled 2.0 and noticed my drag n drop and cut & paste didn't work. I then created a test profile and re-opened the program with that profile. Still couldn't use drag n drop or cut & paste. Do you have any other suggestions? I don't want to remove 2.0 yet in case there are some other things you want me to try. Also, right now I have both versions installed on my machine (1.1.18 & 2.0). Thank you.

Since there is the possibility that it is affecting FF too, then I might look at something external of "Mozilla".
Anything oddball that you may be running. A/V, key logger, malware app, disk encryption, a more common app with with some obscure setting set, something running real-time ... Maybe Autoruns or HijackThis might point something out. (I'm not recommending making any changes using these utilities, but to use them to help point to things that you may not otherwise have considered.) Who is your ISP? Running any apps from them? Like maybe, Charter Cable & Puresight content filtering software? So far we've heard of this on Win2K, XP, & (I believe) Vista/W7. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091017 SeaMonkey/2.0 Pinball Refspoof CopyURL+ FetchTextURL FlashGot NoScript

anti virus is mcafee, malware is malwarebytes, tuneup utilities 2007; nothing with obscure settings. As I mentioned I now have both versions on my machine - and I did put in the info from another poster so I CAN OPEN BOTH VERSIONS AT THE SAME TIME ( "C:\seamonkey\seamonkey.exe" -no-remote). Version 1.1.18 works fine (I am on that now) and 2.0 doesn't. Regarding autoruns or hijackthis - I will have to check them out. Even though I have heard of hijackthis - I've never used it. Which is better & easier to use (don't want to do something I would regret Thanks.

since your problem happens in the test profile, as someone else suggested, look elsewhere. Before running hijackthis or anything else, disable your firewall and antivirus first, and anything else running in the background. I would start with mcafee first, then tuneup, and go from there.

This might be a very stupid question - why would anything running in the background affect one version and not the other? Thanks.

Look, the problem is with Seamonkey when you try to copy text out of it. Every other browser allows copy without problem. I am having the same issue. It happened as soon as my Seamonkey 2.0 beta upgraded itself to the release version. Also, copy was working fine in the 2.0 beta and RC2. Same firewall, same antivirus, the only thing that changed was Seamonkey. Paste from non-Seamonkey apps into Seamonkey works fine for me.

lets take an example -- Roboform. It works with with SM 1, but not SM 2. Why? Because its not compatible with SM 2 . . . yet. The roboform devs haven't worked on it yet to make it work with SM 2. So, you had to wait. Lets take another example. I remember there was a problem with the copy and paste when Firefox went from 2 to 3. It turned out to be a windows update that was causing the problems. Those that updated windows had the problem, and those who didn't, were the lucky ones. MS fixed the problem and issued another update. Lets take another example. When firefox went from 3 to 3.5 lots of people were having cut/copy and paste problems. That one was a little harder, but it turned out to be a google program that wasn't compatible with the newer version. So, as far as I'm concerned its not a SeaMonkey problem. If it was, then others would be having the problem, too. But they're not. Only some are. So, if you tried a test profile and the problem continues, then imo its not a SeaMonkey issue, but something else. Something thats not compatible with the newer version. Thats why I recommend that you disable all the programs running in the backgound to rule them out.

Thank you, thank you - following your post worked!!!!! I went into msconfig and shut it off from there and it seems to be working fine. Will play with it more later. By any chance do you have the the link to the original poster you were referring to? Would be interested in reading the whole thread. My final possible stupid question - who is responsible for correcting this glitch? In the past I have used the McAfee site advisor in IE and it would be annoying to switch it on and off from msconfig. ALSO, THANKS TO ALL THE OTHER POSTERS THAT GAVE ME SUGGESTIONS AND THINGS TO CHECK. I APPRECIATE EVERYONE'S HELP!!!!

http://forum.mozilla.gr.jp/cbbs.cgi?mod ... space=135& As you can see, original post was written in Japanese Anyway, there are add-on also works as Macafee site adviser. It's called WOT, and it works on both of IE and SM2 (though you seem to need to install it separately). So try it if you want secure browsing as before, but don't forget to delete Macafee site adviser completely in advance. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonkey/addon/3456
