Retrieve deleted folder and contents?

Post by GertrudaNivelles »

I have accidentally deleted the wrong folder in Seamonkey mail. Is it possible to retrieve the folder and its contents? If so, please tell me how. I was not ready to delete all of those messages. [tears]

Have you checked the Trash folder (or it might be named Deleted) to see if that "wrong" folder is there?
How is that account set up in SeaMonkey? Find out under menu path Window->Mail & Newsgroups->Edit->Mail & Newsgroups Settings->Server Settings->Server Type field.

No, it isn't in the trash folder unfortunately. I checked there first.

I don't understand your question about how the account is set up. Are you asking whether it is POP email? Yes, it is.

Close SeaMonkey. Navigate to the profile folder ( http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_SeaMonkey ) and locate a sub-folder named \Mail\servername where severname represents the name of the server for the account from which you deleted the folder. Look for files with the same name as the missing folder. Are there any such files present?
In addition to the Trash folder for the account, did you look in the Trash folder of the Local Folders pseudo=account.

Nothing in the Trash folder on Local Folders either.
There are no files by that name after navigated to the profile folder.

In that case the folder and its messages may not be recoverable short of a very expensive forensic restoration of the hard drive to recover the files.

Thank you for your assistance.

Now I know how to quickly rid myself permanently of a bunch of email messages. [smile]

I have recreated the folder.
