I went to this website today with SeaMonkey, but was getting frustrated at the fact that scrolling down was getting slowed down badly, and that this was making my CPU fan speed up noisily. The 'Stop' button was flashing endlessly while something at the bottom of the browser was indicating that something was 'transferring data', then 'waiting', over and over again. I tried clicking the 'Stop' button to no avail, and even pressing the Esc key would not put an end to it. This has been happening with other similar websites lately too.

So I opened up my Opera browser to the same page and it loaded up with no problems.
Any explanation?

Re: Website issue
Other then during the initial load (of all the ads) I'm not see anything particularly wrong?

Ianpb: Do you use an Ad- and Scriptblocker? If not try Noscript and Adblock+. The site initially tries to load scripts from 13 other sites. Likely some ad junk which is fetched over and over again.

It's called a status bar, incidentally.Ianpb wrote:while something at the bottom of the browser was indicating that something was 'transferring data', then 'waiting', over and over again

No, I don't, but neither are such things installed in my Opera setup, but that operates seamlessly.frg wrote:Ianpb: Do you use an Ad- and Scriptblocker? If not try Noscript and Adblock+. Re: Website issue
I'd highly recommend using NoScript and uBlock Origin. uBlock is light on resources and NoScript will make pages stop loading 35 million scripts.
