Since upgrading to SM 2.40 (from 2.33.1) I find that on a per-session basis, after I first start Seamonkey there is around ten minutes of continuous hard-drive activity (the HD LED is solidly lit without even a flicker), which I can only stop by closing Seamonkey. It continues even if I set my firewall to block all activity, or disconnect my ethernet cable, so it is not doing anything online. I can't remember seeing this on earlier versions.
It doesn't seem to be using a lot of CPU or a lot of memory, but I'm finding it extremely irritating! Does anyone know what it is doing, and whether I can stop it doing it?
HD activity (2.40).

Something with cache? Clearing? Look for multiple /cache/ folders, like /cache-trash-123/?
Something with antivirus? Like scanning potentially 1000's of cache files?
Can't say I've seen anything like that.

Re: HD activity (2.40).
Looks as though you've cracked it already! I cleared the main cache and then found I had two 'cache-trash' folders (quite large) which I have deleted. I also had a 'cache2' folder which I deleted, though it has come back (empty).
I've done a complete shutdown and reboot, with no sign of the problem reappearing.
Many thanks,
Steve.

An empty /cache2/ is expected (& will return if deleted).
