what is in download is not added to the history, bug/option?

Post by Michael REMY »

hi,

by searching the url of a previous download file, i discovered that the file you download (and displayed in the download manager) are not added to history of seamonkey.
Strange missed feature...

is it a bug or an option somewhere ?

Howeverthe page where you got the http link to donwload is in the history..but if the server url and the filename are totally different themselves from the webpage, you can't find again your source url.
Exemple :
webpage is http://www.mywebsite/nvidia/drivers.zip"
download file http://213.125.254.24/public/25478.25478.zip"

with this , how can i remember where i downloaded 25478.25478.zip ? i can't, stucked!

so , a feature/fix to add the filedownloaded url in the regular history should be pleased...

2.52+ uses the newer javascript download api. Downloads are probably now added to the history too. Didn't check yet. This feature still needs a lot of work to be fully usable in SeaMonkey.

does this new api work like firefox ?
with firefox, when you download a 4.5GB file, the space is occuped but with seamonkey the space is filled while the download is in progress.

I do not show that to be the case (in FF 52).
I start, then pause a download of a big file, http://ipv4.download.thinkbroadband.com/1GB.zip.

FF shows, "Paused -- 9.3 MB of 1.0 GB".
File manager, Windows Explorer, Everything, all show 9,714,559, 9487 KB, 9.26 MB of space used.

DownThemAll has an option to use, or not to use Sparse files.
(Options | Advanced | Files).

If I enable Sparse Files, start, then pause the download, only the portion of the file that is actually downloaded is in use.
If I disable Sparse Files, then the entire 1 GB of space is reserved (used) from the onset.

(This also presumes that you are downloading using only a single "segment".
When using multiple segments, the entire space for the file is reserved regardless of the Sparse File setting.)
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Same with 2.53 Maybe an option which needs to be set or an extension.
