Emacs key bindings in email composing

What happened to the emacs-like key bindings in email composing, like ^a (beginning of line), ^e (end of line) in 2.49.1? My fingers expect these! Can I turn them back on?

Wait, I see it's just ^a that stopped working. ^e, ^n, ^p, ^k still work.
