Menu -> Edit -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Spelling

If you're such good in orthography and grammar you shouldn't see "red waves"... but if you see them a lot you need Spelling function really badly!

there is no option for spelling under the appearance. I checked it before.

Did you click on the > on left of Appearance as it expands the section.
