SeaMonkey Mail
How do I remove the "original mail" line when replying in SeaMonkey Mail. It wasn't there until this last update and I have used SeaMonkey for years. It is ridiculous to be there in the first place. It serves absolutely no purpose.
Also, since the last update, SeaMonkey crashes constantly about every 15 minutes. I have sworn by SeaMonkey for years, but I am ready to leave it behind since this last update!

Do you have a crash id?
Latest is 2.49.2. You are running 2.49.1. If you use the latest Nvidia driver please upgrade to it. It has a crash fix for this in it.

Re: SeaMonkey Mail
I don't understand what a Nvidia driver is nor do I understand why I don't have 2.49.2 since I have updated every time I had an update notice. If I do have the driver, do I need it before I can update to 2.49.2?
And what about the "original mail" line?

Re: SeaMonkey Mail
Please upgrade manually to 2.49.2 and see if the crashes go away:

Re: SeaMonkey Mail
Okay, I have downloaded 2.49.2
Only a short time until we will know if the crashes have gone away. I will reply regardless if the answer is yes or no. I really hope it works. I have been very happy with SeaMonkey for a long time now.
Thank you very much!

Re: SeaMonkey Mail
Well, I am hopeful that 2.49.2 did the trick as far as the crashes go. It has been approximately 45 minutes with no crash.
So now how do I get the ---------original message---------- removed and why on earth after all these years is it even there in the first place?

As far as I know nothing has changed. This was added years ago. Maybe post a screenshot what you think is wrong.

Re: SeaMonkey Mail
I think it is wrong for it to be there period! And I don't want it there.
If I ever had it before it was years ago! I first started using SeaMonkey when FireFox 3 came out. I don't remember ever having it. But if it was added years ago then why? It is ridiculous to have it there. The message at the very bottom is always the original message, you do not need a message saying it is the original message!

Re: SeaMonkey Mail
Here is how you can post a screenshot of what you see and don't want.

FWIW I don't see it in my SeaMonkey when I reply to any email or messages.

Re: SeaMonkey Mail
Menu -> Preferences -> Mail & Newsgroups -> Composition -> in field "General" change option "Select reply header type":dogbows wrote:How do I remove the "original mail" line when replying in SeaMonkey Mail.
When you have "No Reply Header" then you'll see "-------- Original Message --------".
My choice is "On [date], [Author] wrote:" so it can give output like this: "On 2018-02-27 09:17, dogbows wrote:"
But if you want to completely remove any automatic input when making reply then you must manually change configuration:
1) open SeaMonkey browser window,
2) type "about:config" (without quote marks) and press Enter,
3) click "I accept the risk!",
4) in "Search" file type "originalmessage",
5) double-click to open "mailnews.reply_header_originalmessage" and delete this string,
6) close tab or window with "about:config" (no need to restart SeaMonkey),
7) go to preferences (like in above picture) and set "No Reply Header" (if you changed something there).
When you reply next time there will be no automatic text... if this is what you want.
SeaMonkey is restarting every 15 minutes? Well, it's hard to say what is going on with your computer and you are not patient enough to search for solution on Internet. On my every computers SeaMonkey is working correct.
