I saw on a website that this is set to 50. I would like to reduce it to 5. I did not find this setting browser.sessionhistory.max_entries .
Was it removed?
Is browser.sessionhistory.max_entries still valid?

It is present in Windows version of SeaMonkey 2.49.3 so you can add such entry in your Linux version and check if works.fixit7 wrote:I saw on a website that this is set to 50. I would like to reduce it to 5. I did not find this setting browser.sessionhistory.max_entries .

I don't know why but there are some differences in "default settings" between Windows and Linux version:

... so maybe Linux version "lost" something.
EDIT:
SeaMonkey 2.49.3 under Linux Mint 18.3 and openSUSE Leap 15.0 (both virtual machines) has such setting by default. Try new profile. Maybe old one is broken somehow...

It is there, should be no need to add it.
If you are adding it, you are using the wrong key (or the wrong browser).
Defaults to 50.
It affects the number of pages available through the "Back/Forward buttons".
See about:config entries.
And, browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers.
And related entries.
Just what is it that you are trying to accomplish & why?
