Any video downloaders that actually work ?

Post by Iamusually happy »

Not many available for seamonkey, most are for firefox. Tried one called Easiest YouTube Video Downloader and it sounds great, says just clock the little button below the video and download away ! Problem is, these is no little button. Tried another, don't even know how it works.

Anyone know of anything that works with seamonkey ?

As I do not use SeaMonkey & am not up on all the extensions that may be available, best I can offer is to check out the Addons site
& try a few more...

Maybe wait for someone who runs SeaMonkey?

You posted in the correct forum.
I did not say anything about moving it anywhere.
Try the Addons site that I posted the link to.

FlashGot is my go to.
(I use it in conjunction with an external download manager.)

FG does not work well, at all?, on Youtube, if that is your concern.
Fire 750, bring back 250.

If you go to the website qdownloader.net and paste the url of your youtube video or many other sites it will give you a link to download the video.

I use a stand alone one that works well with any browser. It is called ATube Catcher.

That one actually seems to work, thanks ! I actually want the audio from videos mostly, this thing does that too, I am happy !

edit: Only bad thing about it is it installs a nasty webhost toolbar, hopefully I can figure out how to get rid of it

I'd be wary of both of them :-).

With FYD, the "faster" speeds, i.e., the pay version is a fake, kind of.
From what I see, the file is actually downloaded, speedily, it is only the progress bar that it displays for an inordinate amount of time ;-).
So for a single file, just go & get it.
For multiple files, because of the progress bar, there might be a slowdown.
(Yes, they are impeded.)
Also no easy way to determine if a clip will contain only audio, only video, or both.
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Would not recommend atube catcher, works great and does many things, unfortunately it installs nasty malware that is difficult to get rid of, "webdiscover browser" to be specific. Finally managed to get rid of it , not sure if the program works anymore or if it will reinstall this crap if I try to run it again.
