Does Mozilla make money from seamonkey?
I have noticed that they have curtailed or removed seamonkey add ons. Is this a financial ploy? I would pay them a nominal amount if they need it so badly.
I understand the fiasco with microsoft's Edge browser, but I never thought Mozilla would stoop to the same level.
Only with firefox ... get firefox now.

Other avenues to try (no telling what may or may not work):
http://legacycollector.org/firefox-addons/
https://github.com/JustOff/ca-archive/releases (this is an extension that you would install, that then presents an AMO-like page to get extensions)

Fire 750, bring back 250.

Many thanks Rube! I especially like the JustOff addon.
Have you run across any note taking addons by chance?
I used QuickNote for years, and really liked it, but it won't work with seamonkey 2.49.
That's about the last addon I need, but I'm coming up with nothing so far

Thanks James.I've been there, but it seems most of the addons are for older versions of seamonkey. I have version 2.49.4; I guess it must be quite different from earlier versions in the addon handling respect. I do like the newer Seamonkeyversion and notice several thing that have been fixed relative to my old 2.40 version, which is the latest version I could find that didn't require SSE instruction set.James wrote:From https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2018/07 ... -now-live/SeaMonkey and Thunderbird add-ons will now reside on https://addons.thunderbird.net

You can try to convert the extension you like with this handy tool and see if it works:

Not really, other things in the world do happen apart from minor browsers getting updated.donm4599 wrote:... but it seems most of the addons are for older versions of seamonkey. I have version 2.49.4; I guess it must be quite different from earlier versions in the addon handling respect
Extension authors control the version compatibility of their extensions and many left after Firefox 57 came out. The long history is out there if you want to search.
Meantime, as hardys suggests, use the converter.

I tried the converter, didn't work. Though I have used it for a couple of other addons that did work very well.

As mentioned from Mc in IRC :
http://legacycollector.org/firefox-addons/46/index.html
Works just fine in SM 2.53 without converting it before
you can try version 0.7.6 from here:therube: if someone wants to know, QuickNote 0.7.6 works here in 2.49.5 and 2.53

Re: Does Mozilla make money from seamonkey?
Thanks guys. I really appreciate the help.
Hardys, I tried 0.7.6 from the legacy collector, but it doesn't work at all. It won't save anything I type into it, and won't even save settings. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have seamonkey 2.49.4.

Re: Does Mozilla make money from seamonkey?
Thanks Hardys. This tells me that if I ever find the problem, it's going to be some obscure quirk I never thought about being possible
I really really wish it would work for me. I'm sure there is a reason for this, but I just don't know where to look.

Re: Does Mozilla make money from seamonkey?
Heres some things that might be a reason:
I have my profile, cache, etc stored on a different drive than the default on drive C: . But it is on the same drive as the seamonkey installation folder, just not in the seamonkey folder itself.
edit: I thought it might be that QN can't figure out where to store the settings or the text files. So, I tried to set up new files for it to store them in (I've done this before and it worked on my other computer). But the problem is it still won't save any changes to the settings that I make, as well as not saving any text note for the one note that it shows. Arrrgh!
It has one note ... which is written in invisible ink, as are the settings. Should I try using lemon juice and a candle?

Re: Does Mozilla make money from seamonkey?
Profile, cache,... location makes no difference.
QN stores its' notes in the %profilefolder%/chrome/ directory.
Looks to work fine.
As a test, create a new, clean Profile.
Only install QN.
And... ?
