Seamonkey 2.49.4 / noscript 5.1.9 / xp sp3

first noticed may 20 / 2019 and again on may 25 / 2019.
clearing cache and cookies has no effect.

if google searches default to mobile mode with noscript enabled.
create new string in about:config
general.useragent.override.google.com
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 7.1; Trident/5.0)

change your homepage or shortcut to https://www.google.com/?noj=1
and for the correct search plugin go here.
https://mycroftproject.com/google-search-plugins.html
search for ... Google (no JS) (google.com) by Dmitry Alexandrov
make this the default.
noscript temp allow the above page for the plugin to install.

this will disable youtube video however.
so use this to get that working again ...
general.useragent.override.youtube.com
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/6.0)

general.useragent.override
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0
this manual setting on my pc is not correctly accepted by google anymore.
works on all other sites. ( banking , deezer and such )

this will restore google searches to desktop mode and get youtube classic working again.
firefox esr 52.9 and palemoon 28 with noscript are also affected by this.
this is a temp solution until someone figures out what is up with google.
noscript is not at fault here.
have only tested this on xp / sp3.

Image Your user agent is totally broken and outdated:

    Code: Select all
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:63.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/63.0

  • You should use something like this:

    Code: Select all
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0

:-k On the other hand, if you change the preference 'general.useragent.override' the value you set will always be used.
And permanently invalidate the modifications you have made with 'general.useragent.override.youtube.com' & 'general.useragent.override.google.com'
    .
    :-"

    Cheers!! Image

tried your setting as you say mine is outdated.
removed the google.com and youtube user agents.
same problem appears.
only this works for me now.

general.useragent.override
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0

general.useragent.override.google.com
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 7.1; Trident/5.0)

general.useragent.override.youtube.com
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/6.0)

as a comment on your edit.
don't know if general.useragent.override overrules the other two.
not in my case ...

:-k So in short, if you use:
    general.useragent.override - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:67.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/67.0
will always use this value for all pages.

that setting works for all sites beside google and youtube.
without the general.useragent.override setting i get no audio on deezer.com and the "outdated browser" message.
so you may be correct , i am no expert on this.
only can get it all to work as i posted.

You're absolutely right. I was totally wrong. #-o

I tested the changes you commented on and general.useragent.override does not overrules
    the changes with general.useragent.override.google.com and general.useragent.override.youtube.com [-X

So I'm going to edit my messages to correct the error ](*,)
