With the last two versions of SM 2.49, if a site is encountered with an invalid certificate, there is not an option to consider the site as an exception; thus, the site cannot be accessed.
Is there some way to get around this problem if a site is blocked due to an invalid certificate?
Thanks.

Yes, it is.Peter Creasey wrote:Is there some way to get around this problem if a site is blocked due to an invalid certificate?
Menu -> Edit -> Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> in field "Manage Certificates" press button "Manage Certificates"
Switch to "Servers" tab and press "Add Exception..." button
In window "Add Security Exception" type or paste URL in "Location" and press "Get Certificate" button
If/When certificate will be successfully downloaded then you can view details ("View..." button), unmark "Permanently store this exception" (due to security reasons it is recommended to not store outdated/bad certificates) and to confirm such certificate user must press "Confirm Security Exception" button
When exception will be added then user should see it:
BTW
"Tymczasowy" means "Temporary".
"Na stałe" means "Permanent".
I'm using SeaMonkey 2.49.5 with default Polish language. "Test" profile has en-US language pack (for 2.49.5). I don't know why there are Polish words. But looks like date was taken from OS settings because SeaMonkey 2.53 (Build identifier: 20190911140005) from WG9S website has Polish date too.

No regrets as there is no way I would remember that whole sequence if it did work.

It actually depends on the site's security settings whether you can make an exception or not.Peter Creasey wrote:With the last two versions of SM 2.49, if a site is encountered with an invalid certificate, there is not an option to consider the site as an exception; thus, the site cannot be accessed.

Thanks.
In seamonkey-project.org's case, if it is prepended with a www., "this site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that SeaMonkey only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate."
If you remove the www., however, it allows you to add an exception.
...
This is actually weird. Why is the www. domain set up with different security than the non-www. domain?
