Once the new password is activated for the 3rd party app e.g. SeaMonkey, will the old password still be viable for direct web access (without the app)?

What did AOL mean by "less secure apps"? SeaMonkey supports TLS 1.3, which is the most secure algorithm for encryption.

Apps that don't support 2FA aka Two-factor authorization.
