E-mail client problem

Post by Multigunner »

When I try to compose a message from the e-mail client I get "The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com timed out. Try again." How do I fix this?

What settings do you have for that outgoing server?
What works here is:
Server name: smtp,gmail.com
Port: 587
User name: Full email address including the @gmail.com
Authentication method: Normal Password
Connection Security: STARTTLS

You were asking about issues sending messages. An IMAP server would not be involved in that operation which would depend on an SMTP server. That settings doe you have for the IMAP server?
Also, make sure that you have correctly set the options on the Gmail webmail page to enable IMAP access to the account.

It might be helpful to others having the same problem if you would report HOW you fixed it.
