Seamonkey and lightning startup issue
Hi all,
I have an annoying problem: Seamonkey Mail starts automatically at pc startup and lightning asks credentials to connect to my online ical calendar. I insert credentials but later e-mails are not visualized, I need to close Seamonkey mail and open it again.
I'm not sure there is a relationship between this issue and lightning.
I have the issue also on Ubuntu 18.04LTS, Seamonkey 2.53.2, lightning 5.8.2.
Does anyone have the same issue? Any suggestion?
Nikos

I add some info: when I have the issue, commands in Seamonkey are not responsive.

Are you using the Lightbird add-on? If yes disable it.
Do you see any mail or calendar specific errors in Tools->Web Development->Error Console when you start SeaMonkey?

Tried now, same issue even with lightning disabled, so it's not related. In logs should I see something related to previous sessions? It looks I see only messages related to active session.

Lightbird not Lightning. Different add-on which causes problems with folder display. Do you use a custom theme or older add-ons?

Re: Seamonkey and lightning startup issue
My issue happens only when Seamonkey starts at boot, not when I open it manually.

Don't have SeaMonkey starting at boot then. Boot is a busy time program/driver/internet-wise and it's very common to have booting programs not working right - I've just had this very problem.nikos_bo wrote:My issue happens only when Seamonkey starts at boot, not when I open it manually.
In your case, just open SM manually.

The problem is I'm lazy:-)
I'll see if I found a way to delay SM boot after a period of time.

Re: Seamonkey and lightning startup issue
I've added delay in seamonkey.desktop following indicated in this post
https://askubuntu.com/questions/28685/h ... on-startup
After 2 reboots, it looks I've fixed the problem.

Re: Seamonkey and lightning startup issue
Unfortunately, I have to correct my last message, delay at boot doesn't really help, issue is still random. Now I use Ubuntu 20.04 and Seamonkey 2.53.2

Re: Seamonkey and lightning startup issue
Hi all, my problem happens also without startup, even if I open SM manually some minutes later startup.
When it happens, all buttons (File, Modify, and others), even if not grey, are unresponsive and mail part of window is empty.
Is there a way to open SM in a debug mode to understand deeper the root cause?
If I close and reopen it, issue does not happen. I though it could be a disk issue (sometimes slow access to profile file?).
I use SM 2.53.2
Any suggestion is appreciated.

Does the same thing occur if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

Re: Seamonkey and lightning startup issue
An update: I don't have this problem anymore, I'm using SeaMonkey/2.53.11.1, but it disappeared some subversion ago.
