Since upgrading from 2.49.5 I have had stalling problems with certain web sites.
The stalling seems to creep in after an hour or so after browser restart. When I reload the page, the reload gets stuck. I have to either close the tab and reload the page in a new tab or restart seamonkey.
This didn't happen with 2.49.5 or before. I have now installed both 2.49.5 and 2.53.3 and use the stalling web pages on 2.49.5 and the rest with 2.53.x. Using Linux.

Re: Reload stalls
What is the exact message you see on the left side of the statusbar when that happens? iI'll say 'Waiting for....' or 'Read....'jlavi wrote: When I reload the page, the reload gets stuck.

Re: Reload stalls
IMHO it is because of scripts used there (i.a. for ads). Tune your blocker (ADB+, uBlock Origin, NoScript) for these websites.jlavi wrote:Since upgrading from 2.49.5 I have had stalling problems with certain web sites.

This website:

... was pain for 2.49.5 because one and only script there was freezing SeaMonkey for few seconds. Latest version works correct (SM 2.53.x, script or both).

Re: Reload stalls
I am only using NoScript (5.1.9).Frank Lion wrote:What is the exact message you see on the left side of the statusbar when that happens? iI'll say 'Waiting for....' or 'Read....'
These are the messages with 2.53.2. When it occurs, reloading does not help and the same message is repeated. I am usually keeping NoScript enabled becuase without it browsing is intolerable. Since the messages are mostly about ad loading, it could be scripts related.

Using an another user account with 2.53.2 and NS both enabled or disabled, haven't seen the stalling yet.
With 2.53.3 the stalling is either less probable or less severe. I've seen one stalling with NS enabled where reload resolved it.

Re: Reload stalls
Googlesyndication can cause problems with page loading. I blocked it completely years ago (with an adblocker). Those pages load and reload very quickly for me.

Thanks.jlavi wrote:These are the messages with 2.53.2..
I think you're right.Since the messages are mostly about ad loading, it could be scripts related
Although I can't get those 3 sites to stall with or without my uBlock Origin adblocker, without adblocking I do get the stalling you describe on the https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/archivepix.html link that TPR75 provided above.
You should, I think, be able to block all that stuff with NoScrpt, but I don't really know that extension.
In case it's useful, this works for sure and is very 'light' and you'll only need the filter lists that come with it - https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock-for-f ... -1.16.4.23
