Save about:config settings

Post by fixit7 »

I made some changes to about:config to stop those annoying autoplaying of videos on websites.

Is there something I can backup and then restore whenever I have to re-install the browser?

You could just back up the file prefs.js -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Prefs.js_file
But that also contains the settings for your email accounts so, if you had added or removed any email accounts since the last backup, you would risk losing that data if you restored a backup. It might be better to create a user.js file ( http://kb.mozillazine.org/User.js_file ) with settings that would override what is in prefs.js. Then you would only need to backup that particular file.

Review the user*.* files listed in this link to figure out which file(s) would be appropriate for storing your particular options. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_SeaMonkey

I looked in prefs.js and saw nothing about email accounts.

They are in there, as "mail".
