Videos Don't Play in SM
How can I fix SM so videos will play? I can copy the URL and paste it into FF and it will play just fine. Thanks, Bob.

You are using pretty outdated version 2.46 (4 year old!) while there is updated version 2.53.6:Bob Fam1 wrote:How can I fix SM so videos will play?

Make full backup of your profile(-s) and update. If you want to use 64-bit version then uninstall 32-bit 2.49.x first and then install 2.53.6.
It should solve problems with AV1 videos.

Perhaps you meant another, as yet not mentioned, video format? If so, I'm sure we can help, but it might mean updating your SeaMonkey version first, the one you have is 4 years out of date!

Do it smart:Bob Fam1 wrote:Thanks. I'll update SM. Bob.
Step no.1 -> backup of you profile(-s)
Make archive of entire "SeaMonkey" folder:
Code: Select all
%APPDATA%\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\
https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/seamonk ... es/2.49.5/
... because you have old 2.46
Step no. 3 -> check if everything works with 2.49.5
Step no. 4 -> backup again
Step no. 5 -> update to latest SeaMonkey (now 2.53.6):
https://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/
Some extensions could make problems and stop working in 2.53x version. It depends what you have installed years ago.
If you want 64-bit version 2.49.5/2.53.6 than uninstall old 2.46 first (which is 32-bit only).
EDIT:
If you're using Master Password:
https://www.seamonkey-project.org/relea ... key2.53.6/
Important only if you upgrade from 2.49.5 or an earlier version: Due to changes in the user profile, if you have set a master password, you will have to remove it before upgrading to SeaMonkey 2.53.6. After a successful upgrade, don't forget to manually remove the files key3.db and cert8.db in your profile afterwards, as they include credentials and passwords no longer protected by a master password. You can find the path to your profile folder entering the special about:support URL in a SeaMonkey browser window.
You can remove your master password by providing an empty password in the "Change Master Password" dialog. Do not use the "Reset Password" function. You will lose all stored passwords this way.
